Can a golf cart be driven on public roads?

The difference between a standard golf cart and the SL series: homologation, registration plates and limits of use.

Standard golf carts

Standard models such as the PC-2, PC-4 and PC-6 are off-road vehicles. They are used on golf courses, hotel grounds, residential estates and campuses and cannot be registered.

The SL series

The PC-2 SL, PC-4 SL and PC-W SL are homologated in the L7e category. They can be registered, receive plates and be driven on public roads. Headlights, indicators, mirrors, horn and seat belts meet the regulations.

What to keep in mind

  • We check the current rules on driving licence category and insurance together with you before the sale.
  • Top speed is 40 to 50 km/h depending on the model; they are not suitable for ring roads.
  • A standard vehicle bought for on-site use cannot be converted to a road-legal one later.

Which one to choose?

If the vehicle will never leave the site, a standard model is more economical. If there is a public road between the residence and the town, or the hotel and the beach, look at the SL series.
